2020 Event Offers a New Spectator Experience
CARMEL MARATHON CELEBRATES 10th ANNIVERSARY ON SATURDAY, APRIL 4
2020 Event Offers a New Spectator Experience to Cheer and Watch Runners on the Big Screen at the “Cheer Zone at Midtown”
CARMEL, Ind. (March 5, 2020) – The Carmel Marathon Weekend celebrates its 10th anniversary on Saturday, April 4, and race organizers continue to add experiences to celebrate every runner. Organizers today unveiled the new official cheer zone location at Midtown Plaza as the new and best location to see all 5,000 participants pass by.
The “Cheer Zone at Midtown” will feature live music on the Midtown stage and a live stream of the finish line on the big screen so spectators can not only watch their loved ones run by, but can see them at the exact moment that they cross the finish line. With a live band playing all morning, provided by Westfield Welcome, and food and drinks nearby, the Cheer Zone at Midtown will be a central location for spectators to gather during the race.
“We wanted to add something special and unique for our tenth anniversary,” said Carmel Race Director Todd Oliver. “After visiting larger marathons around the U.S., we quickly found that a live-streaming finish line is hard to find.”
“We are partnering with the City of Carmel to bring this opportunity for friends, family and all spectators to not only enjoy a place to cheer but a place to watch every runner cross the finish line on the big screen,” said Oliver. “We would also like to thank Westfield Welcome for securing the band to play all morning, which will make the cheer zone even more festive.”
Nearly 5,000 runners are expected to run in one of this year’s Carmel Marathon Weekend races, with runners traveling to Carmel from 40 states and 11 countries. More than 500 volunteers from 50 charitable groups help bring the event to life! To add to the excitement of this year’s event, the Carmel Marathon has been selected as the 2020 Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) Central Region Marathon Championship race. The Carmel Marathon is just one of four RRCA Regional Championships taking place in 2020.
