Dear Friends and Partners,
In response to the ongoing public health concerns brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, we are announcing today that the 10th anniversary running of the Carmel Marathon Weekend is officially canceled. We were notified by the City of Carmel this week that a decision was made to cancel all events over 250 for the remainder of 2020. The City has been a longtime supporter of running events so we know this was a difficult decision for them.
Similar to all of your training, our team has been working hard for months in developing unique safety procedures to try and keep folks safe while enjoying what we love to do. While we are disappointed in the cancellation, the health, safety and well-being of our participants, volunteers, sponsors, staff and community remains our highest priority. Bottom line, we want to see you healthy and running with us again.
The 2021 date of the Carmel Marathon is set for April 3. We will be sending direct email updates in the next 48 hours on how to complete your 2020 event virtually or how to defer your entry to 2021.
Again, we understand and share in the disappointment. When we return next year, it will be a festive moment in reconnecting with old friends, volunteers, spectators, and sponsors as we celebrate our accomplishments as a running community. Stay safe and keep running so we can safely run together for many years to come.
